Creek! - What Creek?

We live next to the Diamond Creek (in Diamond Creek) but during the past 18 hours we've had 56ml of rain. We now live next to the Diamond River! Lucky we live on the high side. This is the view from the side front of our house.
Down the front of our property you can see how high the water is coming up to the bridge.
This shot is looking back along the creek down the front of our place. Our house is on the left hand side.
The creek is about 4 times as wide as normal in places. We took the above shot from the bridge. The one below is looking the other way from the footbridge.
When the creek is up, you see lots of people out and about looking at it. It is quite conversation piece. The water is rushing quite fast but you can't really tell that by the photos.

Well, as it's another wet day, I think it's time to go to my favourite chair, make a cuppa and work on some more sewing!

Austin turned 12!

Well, yesterday it was Austin's turn. He is now officially 12 years old.

We had an afternoon tea party for both Austin and Nelson.
Here they are cutting the cake.
With Dad supervising!
Happy Birthday Austin.

My Baby's turned double digits!

Today is Nelson's 10th birthday. He was one very excited boy! For his birthday tea he requested homemade hamburgers. Nana Mac came too!
MacDonald's burgers are better than McDonalds burgers any day!Ahh! Brotherly love!
(Not too sure what those red marks are near Nelson's head!)
It's Austin's birthday on Sunday so there's lots of baking to be done. Today I made 3 batches of biscuits, a chocolate cake for tonight, 2 batches of cupcakes (in the freezer ready to take to school to share on Monday), 5 dozen sausage rolls and finished up with a pavlova! I still need to make some butterfly cakes for Sunday. And I also made 2 batches of cupcakes last night for Nelson to take to school to share today.

Austin's having his birthday tea tomorrow night. We have a family afternoon tea on Sunday for both boys and no-one feels like eating tea after that. Austin's chosen a BBQ and the pavlova will be his birthday cake.

Happy Birthday Nelson.
Lots of Love, Mum, Dad, Mitchell and Austin.

Visitors and a prize!

This morning a pair of King Parrots arrived on our bird feeder.
They come quite regularly (I guess they're the same two)
and they wait until I bring seed out to them. Here's the female eating seed out of Nelson's hand,
which really made his day!
A package also arrived for me yesterday. It was the Itty Bitty YoYo Tree that I won on Leonie's blog Kiwi At Heart. Thank you Leonie. It is really gorgeous. Just have to wait for Christmas now to put it out.

Look what the postman brought me!

Last week I left a comment on Melly's blog and I was one of the lucky winners of some of her beautiful new fabrics. They arrived in the mail today.
Thank you Melly. Mmmm, now what I will make with these?

Mitchell - One Happy Magpie!

It was bad enough listening to Mitchell yell, cheer, boo and argue with the umpires when watching Collingwood defeat St Kilda in the grand final replay on Saturday following last week's draw. But Sunday was worse! I walked into his bedroom and this is what greeted me!
A wall full of Collingwood Football Club!
And he still hasn't stopped talking about it!

A trip to the zoo and a new baby too!

It was a lovely sunny day today and the boys and I headed off to the zoo to see the new baby boy elephant. He is so cute, just like his half sister Mali. Here he comes running out of the elephant house.
We came across a very friendly little butterfly in the butterfly house. He visited with each of the boys.
Oh well, school holidays are now over. It's back to school on Monday (yeah)! Only eight more weeks and then they're on Christmas holidays!
