Final OPAM For 2021!

Windy Days purse.
Windy Days chatelaine.
Lillian Elizabeth's Kitchen.
Two Grinch table runners.
And five Grinch cushions.

That's 10 finishes for December.
 I had a total of 64 finishes for 2021.
Big thank you to Kris for keeping us inspired.

I have some more finishes but they will have to wait until
they are gifted. Due to unexpected things,
our Chit Chat Crafters stitching group weren't able to
meet as planned for our Christmas get together.

Zoom Stitching With Friends

I spent a lovely afternoon yesterday
zoom stitching organised by Chooky Blue
There were girls from Australia, New Zealand,
Germany, UK, USA and Canada.
I finished the embroidery on my banner but have run out of my
glue pen so put this away to work on my hexagons.
I worked on my Tilda hexagon quilt whilst chatting with everyone.
The time just goes so fast.
Thank you Donna for a lovely afternoon.
I'm looking forward to our next one.
Before I go, thought I'd share these photos from Christmas Day.
I finally got a photo of the boys with their girls all together.
Mitchell and Steph, Austin and Paris and Nelson and Jemma.
One with Nana.
We then tried the timer thingy on my phone and got one of all of us!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day. We certainly did.

Merry Grinchmas!

Austin's girlfriend, Paris, just loves The Grinch.
I found this fabric after Christmas last year.
I thought I would make her some cushions and a couple of table
runners for their new home for this Christmas.
I gave them to Paris for her birthday which was a
few days ago. That way she could have them out for longer.

Their dining table is a huge 2.4 metres long!
I made the runner 80 inches long.
The coffee table is 1.3m long.
This runner is 50 inches long.
I only had one metre of the Grinch fabric and had no success finding more.
Who would have thought they would buy such a big table!
With a lot of calculating, I managed to get the most out of the
fabric to make everything I wanted to.
This small piece is the only scrap left over!

Friday Night Sew-In

Last night was the final FNSI for 2021!
I didn't get to join in until quite late
after spending soooo looooong
on the phone sorting out Mum's internet.
Rex curled up at my feet while I stitched.
I only managed to get this much stitched on
the second banner for my bunting.
Huge thanks to Wendy for hosting us throughout
the year and keeping us inspired.
A big thank you to Dawn from
Kitty Rose Cottage for sponsoring FNSI.

Lillian Elizabeth's Kitchen

"Lillian Elizabeth's Kitchen"
in memory of my grandmother.

The pattern was by Jennifer Reynolds
Jennifer's was Phyllis May's Kitchen in memory of
her grandmother. You can read about her here
Jennifer made a memory book but I wanted to make a quilt.

This is Lillian Elizabeth Meikle, my grandmother.
To me she was "Nanny". I spent a lot of time with her.
When I was about 5 years old, we lived with her for a while
when we moved from the country up to Melbourne.
I am the eldest grand daughter so I must have been the favourite!
Wink, wink! LOL! Her maiden name was McDonald
and then I became a MacDonald. This block was my design.
It was this block that I fell in love with. I just love aprons.

I used the left over scraps from my double wedding ring quilt.
The blue fabric was the backing of the quilt. I'm not a blue person
at all but the blue just worked so well.
The doilies belonged to Nanny.
I hand quilted around the blocks in perle thread.

I really loved the journey making this quilt and
just love how it turned out.
Once Christmas is over and I've put all the Christmas quilts away,
it will have pride of place in the kitchen.

Tilda Windy Days Stitchalong Week 7

Project #7 was a sewing chatelaine.
This was a lovely quick project to make.

Tilda Windy Days Stitchalong Week 6

Project #6 was this sweet little purse.
I fussy cut this fabric and it is the same on the other side.
It was a bit fiddly sewing the frame on
but I'm really happy with how it turned out.
Don't think I'll be rushing to make another any time soon!
