FHFS Hexagon Swap

It's time for our first Friends Having Fun Swaps swap of the year. This one was Hexagons (or any EPP). The person I was making for was Ondrea of "O" Sew Crafty.
I made this project folder using purple fabrics. I know that purple is one of Ondrea's favourite colours.
I even found some purple scissors to add into the folder. There was also some DMC threads, a FQ of purple
Civil War fabric and some needles.
Using three hexagons, I made a pocket for the scissors to sit in. The ribbon is to make sure they don't slip out.
You can never have too many pin cushions.
I made this like the one I finished recently
after being a twenty year old UFO!
Of course, I also added some chocolate.

Thanks to Shez and Peg for organising our
Friends Having Fun Swaps.

Now to wait patiently for my parcel to arrive!

A Couple of Wall Hangings To Show You

When I was up in Sydney, I got to see these two wall hangings I made ten and eight years ago.
This was before I was blogging and we had a digital camera. These photos are much better than the original ones I have.

I made this Kimono wall hanging for Neville for his 40th birthday. I bought a kit as I don't use Japanese fabrics.
Then with the left overs I made this one with the
Geisha Girls for another gift..
I used bamboo as the hangers.

Captain Nelson!

At the end of 2014, Nelson was announced as the
Meers House Captain (Middle School).
After a very long delay in arriving, Nelson was finally presented with his Meers Captain badge today.
I hadn't blogged about this as I was waiting for his badge to arrive. I never thought we'd be waiting a whole term!

Congratulations Nelson.

Surprise Reading!

Back in March at the Friday Night Sew-In, I didn't do any stitching but did some reading of magazines from the library for inspiration (see this post).
One of the magazines I read was this edition of
Homemade (Vol 33, No 3).
I turned the page and what a surprise!
I was the Star Letter.
It was the Reindeer wall hanging and stitchery hoop
that I made for Pat in the Christmas In July Swap.
This is the prize pack I received. Some fabric,
acrylic templates, thread, A Thimblelady thimble,
ten fabric hearts, thank you cards, lovely papers,
embossing folder and stickers. The fabrics remind me a bit of vintage sheets and are quite pretty.
There was also this covered tape measure.
I think he is suppose to be a turtle!

This edition must have come out about November or December and I missed it. If anyone has a copy of this magazine they no longer want, I'd love to get a copy to keep. I was surprised I hadn't heard anything from the publishers that I had won. It was only after I contacted them after 3 months or so that my prize was sent to me.

Stitching In Sydney

The wonderful thing about spending time in Sydney
was that I had lots of time to stitch.
After doing some touristy things we would come home
and just relax the rest of the afternoon.
I finished my little Christmas elf.

Using Jenny's (Jenny of Elefantz Stitching Club) Simple Alphabet Sampler, I stitched this initial for someone special.

I also stitched this one for another special person. But of course they are a secret, so that's all I can show you.
I started and finished this lovely stitchery that Melody
There's a cute Theadora button to go on it.
Block 4 of Jenny's Vintage Kitchen BOM is now done too.

A Quilt!

I made this quilt for Neville's 50th birthday.
It was made for the back of his couch. I didn't have the measurements of his couch but it fitted perfectly.
I had thought about adding a green border but decided against it. If I had, it would have been too big
to fit across the back.
When I got the fabulous invite, I knew I had
to use part of it for the label.
So, a prior sneak peek is finally revealed!

Little Athletics Presentation Night So No FNSI For Me!

Last night was the Diamond Creek Little Athletics Club Presentation Night and AGM.
Little Athletics has now finished for Austin.
Here he is with Stephanie, Will and Peter.
Next season they'll be off to Senior Athletics.
But the big surprise was that Noel was made a
Life Member of the club!

I didn't end up making it to Friday Night Sew-In but planned to do some stitching today at NOTYQ today. All I managed to do was sew a press stud on a secret project.
So no photo to show you!

A Conversation And A Finish!

Conversation with Mitchell just as we are leaving
to go out for lunch on Easter Saturday.

Mitchell - "Mum, remember you said you would make
Claire one of those letters for her birthday like the
one you made for Renee for her birthday?"
Renee's hanging
 Me - "Yes, that's right."

Mitchell - Well it's her birthday on Friday"!

Me - "You could have told me sooner. You know I'm going away on Tuesday and have lots to do."

Mitchell - Big grin!
How could I disappoint the lovely Claire!
Well, in 24 hours I had a little hanging made for her.
One of Claire's favourite colours is purple. I found this pretty fabric in my stash which was perfect.

It's amazing what you can do at short notice.

Now It's My Turn To Leave On A Jet Plane!

I'm heading up to Sydney with Mum to spend
a week with my brother, Neville.

We'll be getting ready for this special event!
Now I can give him a hard time about turning 50!

So if you don't get a reply to any emails, you'll know why. Hopefully I'll be able to do some blog reading but probably won't be able to do any posts. But you never know.

Update on Austin in New Zealand.
To quote Austin "So far the trip has been grouse"!
Easter Sunday -  Austin Bungy Jumping!

There's even an overflow and more to come!
It's getting closer to lighting the first fire of the year!

Friday Night With Friends!

I made an early start to FNWF as it's holiday time.
Finished off a secret project which I'll share with you soon.
Appliqued down some hexagons for another secret project.
Now to start putting it all together.

Thanks to Chez for being a wonderful hostess.
You can see what everyone else got up to here.
