OPAM for July and Off On Retreat!

Time for OPAM again.
This month there is only one project!
The ruler holder I made for Shez in our
Friends Having Fun Swaps group.
Thanks Peg and Kris for keeping us motivated.
I'm all packed ready to head off this morning
to our NOTYQ retreat with Mel and Ann.
Should be a fun weekend!

New Ruler Covers!

Our Friends Having Fun Swaps group has just had our third swap for the year. We had to make our partner a ruler cover.
My secret partner was none other than the lovely
Cheryll from Gone Stitchin'.

This is where I used to store my 16½, 12½ and 8 inch rulers.
But not anymore! No more bubble wrap for my rulers.
Chez has made me the most beautiful bag to hold all three!
 The front of the bag.
The main part of the bag is for my 16½ inch ruler.

The front pocket holds my 8 inch ruler.
The back pocket holds my 12½ inch one.
Chez also sent me some lovely extra goodies.
A tape measure/scissors set, DMC threads, cute little wooden buttons, a magnetic needle holder,
choccies and a pack of Thangles. I've never used those before so this should be fun.

Thank you Chez. You have certainly spoilt me.

And who was I making for?
It was the other lovely Sheryl of Enjoying Life.
Shez requested a holder for her 24 inch ruler. This cover actually holds her 12 inch ruler as well.
It's a bit hard to see but there is a pocket inside
for the shorter ruler.
I added some extra goodies for Shez as well.
I just had to put this photo in as the matching threads
look so pretty with the Tilda fabric!

Friday Night Sew-In

I fiddled a bit in the sewing room getting things
ready for retreat in a couple of weeks.
Also worked a little on a special project.
Hopefully, I'll get some more done today.

Thanks for hosting a lovely night of stitching, Wendy.

A Day At The Zoo

Today Nelson and I headed off to the Zoo. The weather turned out beautiful and we had such a lovely day.

 Found a ball of Lemurs!
 A miniature one!
The new baby Pygmy Hippopotamus was having a sleep.
This White Cheeked Gibbon took a fancy to Nelson.
Every time Nelson moved, she moved along with him.
I love this photo.
You can see how far she moved along.
Watched the elephants having a shower.
Got up close with these Rainbow Lorikeets.
 Nelson made another friend!?
Just to prove I was there too!

A Cold Wet Afternoon

Spent preparing binding and stitching it onto my
2013 FQS Designer Mystery Quilt.
I decided to bind it in the same fabric as the border,
not the navy spot. Yes, I did find my precut binding strips. I'll save them for something else. Mel and I are heading off to NOTYQ retreat in about three weeks. Stitching down the binding will be one of the projects I will be taking.

Friday Night With friends

What a lovely night it was stitching along with friends.
I prepared two stitcheries and made a start on one.
This tea pot is part of Jenny's Stitchery Club.
Block 7 of Jenny's Vintage Kitchen. I hope Jenny doesn't think I'm stalking her but she does the loveliest of designs!

Thank you Chez for hosting us last night.
You can see what others got up to here.
