A Busy Weekend!

Saturday afternoon we headed around to some friend's place for a BBQ and then to watch the 2013 AFL Grand Final between Hawthorn and Fremantle. This photo was taken just prior to that coffee table being covered in lots of munchies (cheese, dips, bikkies, lollies, potato chips, etc). Needless to say, no-one needed dinner that night. That one vacant area on the left is my spot. You may just be able to see my sewing box on the arm of the couch. As no-one barracked for either of the teams playing, no-one got upset with the outcome.
This is where I started prior to the match.
This is where I finished! Not much further! LOL!
There was also a bit of a billiards competition going on.
Sunday we all headed off to the Royal Melbourne Show.
I saw this yarn bombed car and caravan and knew that
Mel would just love it.
There was also a tractor yarn bombed!
Noel and I went into the Masterchef kitchen.
This will be the only time I'm ever in there!

Not many photos were taken at all. We arrived about 11am and didn't see the boys again until they came home after 7pm. That's the bonus of them being older. They enjoyed themselves and didn't have to hang around mum and dad. We also enjoyed ourselves as we could do what we wanted to do and with mobile phones, we were always in contact with everyone. Of course, we left a lot earlier.

Quilts In The Barn

Mel and I headed over the Wonga Park for the 2013 Quilts in the Barn. This year's theme is "All About Chintz" and is hosted by the lovely Linda Collins.

After the terrible storms of the day before,
it turned out to be a beautiful day.

There was so much to see on this quilt. There was embroidery, piecing, broderie perse and applique.

The top left is an antique hexagon fragment.
A close-up of the hexagons.
Can you believe that the papers in this quilt
had dates from 1793-1803!
 Linda, Mel and me.
We were so lucky to be invited by Linda to go to her
sewing room to see her Wall of Mini Quilts.
They are just so much nicer in person.
We also caught up with Gail Pan. It was lovely to be
able to thank Gail personally for the prize
of the Quiltmaker magazine I received from her last week.
It was lovely catching up with you again Gail.

Another One!

Another parcel arrived this week. It was from Wendy in our Birthday Fat Quarter Club. Wendy also added a cute little purse and you may just be able to see it, a little charm. Thank you Wendy.

More Lovely Gifts!

 Yes, my birthday continues!
I now have a large Bonnie and Camille collection.

Barb (BarbsCreations) gave me this gorgeous tin.
And inside the tin were three fat quarters of Bonnie and Camille plus a Scrumptious charm pack! Thank you Barb.
This is the lovely gift was from Michelle (Rag Tag Stitchin'). Another gorgeous B&C fat quarter, two of Michelle's
gorgeous stitchery patterns, some lace,
a lovely Blue Wren soap and Blue Wren tissues
(they are much too pretty to use!).
Michelle had recently been visiting in Victoria and unfortunately I wasn't able to meet up with her. She left this gift for me with Shez. Her newest pattern, "Tea & Stitching With Friends bag, a lovely lavender scent sachet and, wait for it, a mini charm pack of Marmalade!
Thank you so much Michelle.
Sharon from Lillabelle Lane surprised me with this lovely table runner. Thank you so much Sharon.
I think my birthday celebrations have finally come to an end. Can you believe it, but with all these birthday cards, there is not one duplicate!
A little finish.
I've finally made myself a MacDonald's Patch name tag.

Mill Rosie Get Together

Yesterday the Mill Rosie Friends had a wonderful get together. We had such a wonderful day.
The designer chosen for our swap this time was the lovely Michelle Ridgeway of Rag Tag Stitchin'. Once again, everyone did a wonderful job.
There were table toppers and sewing sets.
It's a bit hard to see, but Shez stitched cream
cup cakes on this table topper.
Bags and covered journals.
A box filled with lots of lovely sewing items.
This is the top of the gorgeous box made by Lyn.
Our first doll!
This table topper was made by Barb and I was the lucky recipient. She also added a lovely fragrant candle and some Cottage Garden Threads. The colour is called "Mill Rose". So appropriate!
I made this bag which Marg received.
I hope you enjoy using it Marg.
We had a wonderful day which went by too quickly. Thank you girls for a fabulous day. A big thank you also to Sue and Liz of Mill Rose Cottage for looking after us so well. Can't wait for the next one!

I also received some more lovely presents
but I'll save them for another day.

What I Stitched At The FNSI!

I didn't start sewing until 9.45pm as I wanted to get all the washing done so I could head off to Mill Rose Cottage and not have to worry about it. I stitched a rod pocket onto my Chook House quilt ready for our exhibition.
My little helper was by my side!
So another thing to cross off my list!

It's Friday Night Sew-In and a Prize!

Tonight is Friday Night Sew-In hosted by
Wendy of Sugarland Quilts. Will you be there tonight?
I had a little win last week from Gail Pan. A copy of Quiltmaker which has a Christmas table runner
that Gail designed in it.
Isn't that reindeer so cute! I can't wait to do this stitchery, although it may not be until the new year. Thank you Gail.
Tomorrow, Mel and I are off to catch up with our friends at Mill Rose Cottage. I predict another great day out!
Have a great weekend everyone.
