What I've Been Up To!

I've finally finished Austin's new quilt. It is called "Starry Sensations". The quilt was the 2009 International Friendship Quilters (IFQ) Block of the Month. I actually had all the stars made and the top together before the end of 2009. It took me another couple of months to get around to adding the borders. Then another couple of months getting it to Leanne Kaufmann to quilt it for me. Leanne did a fantastic job of quilting an all over star pattern. I then finally got the binding sewn on and stitched down. The photo has come out very light but you can see the quilting pattern.

I've also been making some more hangers from a tutorial by Val Laird.
These will be presents for Christmas. This last one is one I made for Simone but hadn't gotten
around to posting a photo.

You may remember this post. Well, I finally got around to washing all my new civil war fabrics on the week end and here they are.All ready to start my new quilt!

One year and one week!

Oops, my first blogaversary has come and gone. It was last Tuesday, 16th November. It's hard to believe I've been blogging for a year. It's been wonderful 'meeting' people and making new friends. So thanks for all the comments during the past year.

This is just a quick post. I will post soon with some photos of what I've been sewing!

A Birthday Party, Relay and "Billy the Galah"

Nelson had a party with some of his friends last Saturday. It was a fun and games party. They played "Pass the Parcel"."Pin the Beak on Lucky the Lovebird" (a photo of course!)
Ate Hot Dogs and Potato Gems.
And of course, cake! Nelson wanted a homemade ice-cream cake.
This one was filled with chocolate covered honeycomb. Very yummy!
After cake the boys made key rings to take home. They decorated discs to be inserted into the key rings. Nelson did a sticker swap with Amanda of Krafty Panda earlier in the year, so they had lots of stickers to choose from.
Here's Nelson's key ring.Last Sunday Austin competed in the Box Hill Little Athletics Club Invitational Relays. His team made it to a final. They all ran really well.
Here he is waiting for one of his relays.

I let Billy the Galah out of his cage today as it was raining and he loves a shower! Billy was hit by a car and can no longer fly. Here he is having a lovely walk along the rocks in the garden.I haven't shown you anything I've been working on lately but I have be working! Last night I finished Austin's quilt. It's very grey and overcast today so I'll post some photos next post when the light is better.

Blue Light Disco!

Our baby is growing up fast and last night he went to his first Blue Light Disco. Here he is with Callum from next door all ready to head off. They had a great time and Nelson danced quite a lot (so he tells us!). He can't wait for the next one!

Creek Update

Twenty-four hours later and the creek has gone from thisto this!
We had a walk around the other side of the main road yesterday and parts of the walking track were flooded. Spotted a poor possum out on a branch in the open. There was a tree now in the middle of the creek. Perhaps that was his home and he couldn't get back. Didn't have my camera with me so no photo to show you.

When everything is back to normal, I'll have a get a "before" photo to compare with!
