Meet Michelle!

Meet Michelle, our new daughter! LOL!
Mitchell got a late invitation to a Halloween party and
I jokingly said he could wear a dress. So he did!

October OPAM!

I've managed to sneak another six little items
in for October's OPAM.

A needle case with matching scissor fob and four
extra scissor fobs for the present box.
Add my covered journal.
And three brooches for the present box.
Making a total of 10 items for October! Yeah!
Thought you might like a sneak peek of some secret sewing.
Working with these threads!

Stepping Back In Time Part 3!

The men weren't forgotten either.
Can you believe these are slippers for a man!
There was a collection of "Mrs Beeton's" books.
The Book of Household Management.
That little iron is only about 3 or 4 inches long!
Time to do the vacuuming!
Fashion magazines.
This is a year's worth of 1800's fashion magazines
that have been bound into a book.
This cottage has been embroidered with hair! They would collect hair from the family and get different colours.

I hope you've enjoyed the tour of this wonderful
collection of fashions. I certainly did!
Don't forget to head over to Mel's blog to see more wonderful pieces of the collection.

Stepping Back In Time Part 2!

Some more photos of the wonderful fashions.
Chantilly lace.
Miss Eliza Doolittle?
Even the under garments.
I would just love that dress to wear!
This was interesting to see the layers of underwear.

Stepping Back In Time!

On Monday, Mel and I were lucky enough to be invited along to visit The Costume Collection. It is sometimes called the Melbourne Costume Museum.
Here we are with Loel, the owner of all these beautiful items. Loel is a private collector who has dedicated her time and money to the collection, preserving and displaying over
200 years of Australian fashion.
There were fashions from right back in 1788!

Loel started off by telling us the history of how her collection began and then had many interesting stories about life "in the old days".
I could have sat there all day listening to her!
Part of someone's Trousseau in amazing condition.

We then could wander through the museum to see all the fashions. They were all original clothing, not reproductions.

 Jane Austen period.
 Picnic at Hanging Rock.
 The 1950's.
 Children's clothing.

Both Mel and I were totally blown away with what we saw.
I'll show you some more photos another day.
Mel will have some too.

Diamond Valley Centre Relay Champions!

Today was the Diamond Valley Centre Relay Championships. Austin's team won their three relays. 4 x 100m, Medley and 4 x 200m.

Austin, Kwabe, Will and Zac broke the Under 15 Centre record for the 4 x 100m (by .02 second) and
the Medley (by 2 seconds).
They missed the record for the 4 x 200m by 1 second!

Congratulations, boys!
It was also Guild day today. I actually made three more brooches so I feel I did achieve something!
The back one is actually a pale blue, not white
and the leaves are a pretty green.

Another Quilt Show!

Today Mel and I headed off to a lovely quilt show
hosted by Eastern Palliative Care.

The show is held in the Nunawading Uniting Church and was just as lovely as I remember from last year. It was so nice to see so many of the quilts had been hand quilted.

I really must start quilting my double wedding ring!

Of course, after viewing the quilts, it was time for morning tea. We had the most delicious scones, hot out of the oven, with jam and cream. Unfortunately, we both devoured them before we remembered to take a photo!

The show is on again tomorrow (Saturday). If you get the chance to go along, it will be well worth it.
