A Marathon and A Century!

Nelson ran the recent Melbourne Marathon.
Nelson's goal was to run the marathon in 4 hours.
He finished a time of 3hrs, 15mins which was fabulous.
Nelson came 349th out of 2,517 runners in his age group
and placed 1874 overall of 17,734 runners.
A big smile on his face when he saw
Chloe and Mitchell down by the bay.
One very happy boy at the finish line
in the MCG!
With his proud brothers!
Checking out his name of the wall of marathon runners.
Look who's name is above his.
Apparently Mitchell also ran the marathon! LOL!☺
We then headed to a local pub for a
well deserved celebratory drink.
It was a lot easier than the Ultra Marathon
he ran in The Kimberley back in 2024.
You can read about that one here.
On Saturday, Mitchell made his first 100 after
20 years of playing competitive cricket.
Along the way he’s made 18 50+ scores,
including 3 in the 90s.
He ran out of batting partners when
he was so close to a hundred.
Unfortunately that was the end of the match due to rain.
Maybe he would have made more!
He finished up on 100 not out.

He was playing against his old club
(and team mates) Diamond Creek.
Last year Mitchell had a shocking season.
He even won the award for
"The Most Ducks in the Season"
but he has worked hard over the off season.
The first match this season he was 59 not out.
Hopefully it’s the start to a big season.
Mitchell is in the Second XI and co-captain.
The other captain made a lovely speech
in the club rooms after the match.
Last week we celebrated Austin and Nelson's birthdays.
Lucky Kade was there to help blow out the candles!

Family Catch Up

It's the end of an era for Mitchell.
Mitchell started Auskick when he was 5 years old.
After playing junior football from Under 10's
and playing 265 games,
Mitchell has now hung up his footy boots.
Nelson, Noel, Mitchell and Dean.
Noel and Dean went every week to watch
him play. I was there at his first game and
for his last! I did go to matches over the years
but not so much when he was playing seniors.

This is the only photo I could find
of Mitchell at Auskick.
I'm guessing he's about 7 here as
Austin also started when he was 5.
From our big boy to our little boy.
Kade is now 18 months old.
Where has the time gone!
Kade is such a little cutie!
This photo was taken last weekend
at the Hurstbridge Wattle Festival.

How Can It Be 30 Years!

How can it be 30 years since this
beautiful boy came into the world!

Happy 30th birthday Mitchell.
So proud of the fine young man you
have grown up to be.
Keep on being you.

FNSI And A Special Football Match!

Friday night I finished cutting out a new quilt.
I've finally cut into my bundle of Tilda Old Rose!

This is one of the projects I am going to take to retreat next month.
Thank you to Wendy for hosting us.
Yesterday was a special day in the MacDonald family.
For the first time ever, Mitchell, Austin and Nelson
played in the same football match together.
This season they have joined Reservoir FC and played in the seniors.
No win but Mitchell kicked one goal and Nelson one goal and one point.
Don't know how often three brothers get to play together in one team!

A New House And A Cricket Grand Final !

Eleven months later and it’s happened again!
Austin and Paris have bought a house in Doreen.
Not as close as Mitchell and Steph but only 10 minutes away.
Monday they got to put the "sold" sticker up on the board.
We are all very excited for them.
So that’s two down and one to go.
Our house seems to be getting a lot bigger!
We never imagined that two of the boys would move out
within 11 months of each other.
Saturday saw Mitchell playing his cricket Grand Final.
Diamond Creek batted first.
Mitchell make 34 runs before being caught.
He high scored for the team.
It started raining and when they finished their 40 overs,
it was decided to call off the game as the rain was getting heavier.
That meant they had to go back Sunday to finish the match.
Mitchell's team made 124 runs.
Diamond Creek got the opposition out for 93.
They won!
Mitchell has now won 3 out of the last 4 Grand Finals
and this one made it back to back Premierships!

OPAM For June and A New House!

I just scrapped in for June OPAM with one finish.
The baby quilt I finished yesterday.
I've also been making another baby quilt for a little girl
due very soon too. Just the binding to be stitched down on this one.
Funny when you realise your nail polish matches your project!
Thanks to Kris for keeping us inspired.
My mojo seems to be returning so hopefully I'll have
some more finishes in the not too distant future.
You might remember back in March that Mitchell and Steph
bought a house. It is about a one minute drive from
our place and 200 metres from Steph's house!
Moving day was the 19th June.
Such an exciting time for them.
This is their lovely house (that's a bungalow at the side).
Lucky Mitchell knew a good truck driver to move everything!
I now have my laundry back after it being filled with their
furniture that they purchased ready for the big move.
Nelson's still waiting for Mitchell to get the rest of his clothes and things
so that he can move into Mitchell's old room.
Then I get to move back into my old sewing room!

My New Sewing Room!

A month has gone by since my last post
and so much has happened in that time.
The new flooring was put down. We are so pleased with it.
The sewing room floor.  In my last post I mentioned that you
might be surprised to find out what I've done to my sewing room.
Well, I've given it up and Nelson now has his bedroom
in the house and is no longer sleeping in the laundry.
You can read about him moving in there in January 2016 in this post.
I hadn't realised he had been out there for four years.
I think I should be awarded "Mother of the Year"
for giving up my sewing room after nearly 25 years!
So now my sewing room is in the laundry.
I bought a couple of book shelves as Noel pulled down
all the shelving in the sewing room that he had built.
Lots of cupboard space in there.
But this sewing room is only temporary because ..............

Mitchell and Steph have bought a house!

It is in Diamond Creek, only 2 minutes from our place and even  less from Steph's.
They didn't think they would ever be able to afford to buy in Diamond Creek.
We (Mitchell, Steph, Steph's parents, Noel and I) looked at it at the
first open for inspection and we all fell in love with it. They put an offer in on the
Sunday and it was accepted that night. We couldn't believe they got it as there
were so many people there, all saying the same as us - "I love it".

Once Mitchell moves out, Nelson will move into his room
as it's bigger and I'll move my sewing room back inside.

So that's enough for today.
I'll tell you about my shortened holiday and then
all the sewing I have been doing in another post.
