OPAM For June

Can you believe it's the end of June?
Only two finishes (that I can show). Hand towels.
So what else have I been working on?
I finished stitching the doilies onto my
Lillian Elizabeth's Kitchen quilt.
It's all basted ready for quilting.
I've also got the binding stitched onto my hexagon quilt.
This is my first big quilt done with mitred
corners now that I know how to do them.
And I've also stitched the first of my Heartstrings
little stitcheries. I haven't decided if I'm going to make the
actual Heartstrings quilt. We'll see!

I got the stitcheries prepared ready to take on our trip to Sydney but,
of course, it has been postponed yet again due to lockdown.
Mum and I now have our fourth date booked for
August so we'll wait and see if we ever get there.
Thanks to Kris for keeping us inspired.

Catching Up

I forgot to share two small finishes from a couple of weeks ago.

Our Tilda Lovers Club challenge was to decorate a tea towel.
I couldn't find any suitable where I was shopping but picked up
these two hand towels instead. Into the gift box they go.
Saturday was a big day when our family home went up for auction.
It will be 48 years in September since we moved there.
So after 48 years, there is now a lot of "stuff"
to pack up/give away/throw away!
Mum is very excited to be moving into her new home.

Friday Night Sew-In

Last night I have finally finished my Tilda Christmas stitchery.
I have decided I will frame this.

I was very spoilt for supper last night.
Yesterday, Noel made some scones to take to an old friend.
Of course there were some left. Yum!
Now to piece the backing for my Lillian Elizabeth's Kitchen quilt.
I also picked up my hexagon quilt from my quilter yesterday,
so I need to organise the binding and get it stitched on.
Thanks to Wendy for being such a lovely hostess.
You can see what others got up to here.

Friday Night With Friends

Last night I pulled out my Tilda Christmas stitchery
while I watched a movie. Looking at this photo,
I must remember to stitch that little bird's eye!
Just one snowman to go.

Thanks to Chez for hosting us.
You can see what others got up to here.

OPAM For May And What's Been Happening!

Only two finishes for this month as there's been a lot going on.
A Tilda candle mat.

Tilda bunny.
.
Thanks to Kris for keeping us inspired.

So, what has been keeping me busy at MacDonald's Patch?
After 47 years in our house, Mum decided it was time
to sell up and down size. She wanted to stay in the area
and we found this lovely unit just 3 minutes away.
This, of course, meant we have to sell her house.
We've been very busy getting it ready to put on the market.
There is so much "stuff" after 47 years and we've only just started.
The real clean out will be once the house is sold.
We were lucky to get two open houses in before the lockdown.
Noel and I celebrated our 26th Anniversary
and had a couple of days in Ballarat. We had two honeymoons
when we got married. First we went to the Cook Islands and
then to Ballarat. We stayed at Sovereign Hill then and we did again..
We stayed in the same room that we did on our honeymoon.
It was the front room on the left.
We walked around some of Lake Wendouree.
For dinner we went to The Boat Shed on the lake.
It was lovely and we sat overlooking the water.
We were given a complimentary glass of champagne when we arrived
as it was our anniversay, which was a lovely surprise.
The meal was delicious. We can highly recommend this place.

Went to the Conservatory in the Botanical Gardens.
On the way home, we stopped in Ballan so I could visit
my favourite shop, Chrissie's Timeless Treasures.
Chrissie has so many gorgeous things inside.
Lots of vintage things, buttons, laces, crockery and new things too.
You might remember that back in February,
Austin and Paris bought a house.
They got the keys last week and have started moving in!
On the sewing front, I've been sorting threads for
my Heart Strings stitcheries. Not exactly sure if I'm
going to do the Heart Strings quilt or not but I have matched the
threads to go with my bundle of Tilda Old Rose.
I've also pulled out my Lillian Elizabeth's Kitchen
blocks to calculate what borders I need to cut.
I think I'm all set to start cutting now.
Phew, what a long post! Hope I've haven't bored you.
