Missing Fabric Found!

Thanks to the lovely Sheila, I have ordered the missing fabric. Sheila was searching Ebay and came across a lot of 18 fat quarters for sale. And there was my missing fabric.

Of course, now I'll have 17 extra fat quarters that I don't really need. I've tried to download a copy of the photo but you'll just have to wait until I get it in the mail. Anyone interested in buying it?

Who would have thought that after 11 years I would actually find some?

Thanks again Sheila. You've helped save the day!

We're going to need a bigger trophy cabinet!

Saturday was Presentation Day at Yarrambat Junior Football Club.
The boys each got a Participation Trophy.
Mitchell came Equal 3rd Best and Fairest in his team.
He also won the Best Finals Player award.
Amanda (Kraftypanda) wanted to see a close-up of Nelson's Premiership Medals. Here they are Amanda. The NFL one is the Premiers medal. The one on the right was presented to all the boys for being Grand Finalists.
And I thought I'd show you what Nelson's team gave me for being Time Keeper this season. A bottle of red with the Yarrambat Premiers photo on the label. It was such a surprise. We certainly won't be putting this bottle out in the recycle bin!

Seeking Fabric

Can anyone help me? I've decided I need to add another row to my double wedding ring quilt. But I'm short of this red fabric by about 5 small pieces of the melon. As it's the only red fabric in the quilt it will look a little out of place with the row only having 4 red pieces (I've already got them cut out).

It is from the Maywood Studio range. It was possibly called "makin' conversation" (the first part of the word has been cut off the little piece I have). It is red with Alice in Wonderland characters on it. It was bought in Minneapolis, USA about 11 years ago.

Do you have any in your stash and may be able to help me out?

Did you know there is a website called "Missing Fabric"? This is a site where you can list fabrics you're after. And just maybe, someone may have what you need. I've also listed this fabric there.

If anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it. I happy to cover costs.

Here's hoping!

Pies!

Yesterday I made meat pies. It's the first time I have ever made them and I must say I was very pleased with the outcome. Noel was so impressed he wanted me to blog about them, so I am. I think they passed the taste test going by the empty dinner plates last night!

Christmas in July Ornament Swap

I joined in the Christmas in July Ornament Swap organised by Terri. Jacque from Palmer, Alaska made me this lovely ornament.
This is the back.
Jacque also sent me these lovely goodies. She also shared a Christmas photo of her family and herself. It's nice to put a face to the name. I've taken a close-up of the gorgeous Moose pin she sent.
It is so dainty!

I sent my ornament to Stephanie in Florida.
This is the ornament I made for Stephanie.
Thanks for organising this fun swap Terri. I know we all enjoyed it.

PREMIERS!

They did it! Yarrambat Under 10 Green are the 2010 Premiers!
The final score!
Nelson receiving his medal.
One very happy footy team and their parents.
Nelson and Dad in the rooms.
Well done Nelson.

It was a low scoring game. The boys all played well and the tension was high! Nelson and his team played a fantastic match.

GO BATS!

Footy Grand Final!

Tomorrow morning Nelson and his team will be playing in the
Under 10's 2010 Grand Final! Yeah!
Thursday night as the boys were training, a group of us mums made a banner for them to run through on Sunday (notice the fathers supervising!). Although I will tell you that Noel got down on his knees and was helping stick down the letters.
The boys were very excited when they came in from training and saw the banner. They all made sure we hadn't left anyone's jumper number off!

This is the front of the banner. And here's the back.
These are the numbers of the backs of the boy's jumpers.
Nelson is number 22!

Good luck to Nelson and his team mates.
Do your best. We are all proud of you.

More of the retreat

I got some photos from the lovely Jennifer from the retreat. Here is our table with all our supplies (sewing, lollies, chips, more lollies).
It was a lovely room to sit and sew. This is the view out the window.
As I said in my earlier post, my aim was to get the next 4 rings together over the weekend. Well, I almost made it. I only had 2 more lines of sewing but unfortunately it was time to head home.
We all collected lots of goodies over the weekend. I was very good and only bought some beautiful hand dyed "Cottage Garden Threads". Although I also came home with 7 fat quarters, a block holder, finger presser, chalk marker, cotton, sewing machine needles thanks to the wonderful NOTYQ retreat committee!

Libby had made each of our little group a lovely pen/pencil holder.
And Vivienne gave each of us a funny egg cup (excuse the rudey bottom!) with some pins.
Another retreat over. Can't wait for the next one!

I'm back from retreat!

We had a great time at retreat. Ate too much, talked a lot. And I nearly fulfilled my goal of piecing the next row of 4 rings. I've just got to join the last ring to the bottom of the row and then that row is finished. I've decided I need to add another row.

I haven't any photos yet as I didn't have my camera but I took some photos with Jennifer 's camera and when she emails them to me, I'll post them.

But what I can show you is the birthday present I made for Libby.
I made her one of the little lavender bags and two matching hangers. The hanger pattern is from a tutorial on Val Laird's blog.

Thanks girls for the friendship we shared over the weekend. Only 362 days until the next one!

Now for the footy results. We had good and bad news. Unfortunately Mitchell's team lost by 4 goals. They tried hard but it wasn't meant to be. Mitchell was pleased with himself as he kicked 4 goals!

The good news is that Nelson's team are in the Grand Final next week. Yeah Nelson! He is very excited and is very pleased to be playing a Grand Final in his first year of footy.

Go Bats!

Only one more sleep to go!

Tomorrow we head off on the North of the Yarra Quilters Annual Retreat.
This is the main project I'm going to work on (just ignore the creases!). My Double Wedding Ring quilt. It's pieced by hand and I aim to get the next 4 rings pieced. I maybe aiming a little high but you never know.

Besides the sewing, there's the shopping on the way to Myrniong (near Bacchus Marsh), lots of talking and lots and lots of eating! The best thing is we don't have to cook or clean up afterwards.

Hopefully I'll have some more of my quilt to show you after the weekend. I'll also show you something else I have been working on.

Also, on Sunday both Mitchell and Nelson have footy finals. Unfortunately, Austin missed out on finals by percentage. If they win their matches they will be in next week's Grand Final. Can Mitchell make it 3 in a row? This is Nelson's first footy season and he has done well to get to the finals.

Good luck Mitchell and Nelson. Play your best. We are proud of you.
