Christmas Tree Skirts!

Heather over at Books and Quilts invited me to join in on her Christmas Tree Skirt linky. I thought it would be fun to share the two skirts I have made.
This is the first one I made a few years ago.

My mum kept saying how much she would like one too. I made this one for her for the following Christmas as a surprise. But she was very pig headed that year and wouldn't put up her tree "as Christmas wasn't at their place and she was going away straight after Christmas". The boys kept asking Nana if they could put up her tree for her but no, it wasn't going up! I got very annoyed with her so I put the skirt away and didn't tell her about it! The next year she put up her tree. When I knew my parents wouldn't be home, I sneaked down there and put the skirt out. Imagine her surprise to come home and find it. We told her the story of the previous year and that she could have had the skirt then. The tree has gone up each year since!
Have you made a Christmas Tree Skirt or have you got one that's been passed through the family! Have you a story to tell about one?
Head over to Heather's to join in on the fun and see what Christmas Tree skirts and their stories other people have.

Both of the skirts are lovely. \last weekend, I took my son and two nephews over to my mother's and we put up her tree and he decorations. My father made me promise to do these before he passed away in September. I suspect that my mom might have skipped the tree this year, just as your mother. She is happy to have it out and the other decorations up. Thanks so much for sharing this story,

They are both gorgeous Christine, that's a funny story about your Mum...
I made a skirt for our tree a few years ago, it's very simple but really finishes off the tree so well. x

Lovely tree skirts, fun appliques. Ha, that'll learn her, at least your mum can learn from her "mistakes".
