I had quite a productive night last night (for a change).
I cut out the pieces for Block 1 in the afternoon
so that I could get straight into it.
Sharon had told me how generous the Fat Quarter Shop was with their BOM's and she wasn't joking. I could easily have cut out another block.
Ta Da! Block 1!
When I had finished it, I thought something didn't look quite right. I hadn't realised there was a difference between the back and front of the plain cream fabric. The back is slightly whiter! I had three pieces around the wrong way. Luckily it was the two long cream and cream corner block, so it wasn't too hard to undo and restitch it together. I'll be more careful next time. I'm so glad it wasn't all those HST pieces that I'd made the mistake on!
I also starting a mini production line with three fat quarter bags to go into the present drawer. The drawer has been a bit neglected of late!
Here's something that hasn't been seen in our place before. Austin and Nelson drying the dishes! The dishwasher had keep triggering the safety switch yesterday, so last night it was back to the old fashioned way of dishwashing!
This is what they really thought about it!

Oh thanks for the heads up on the cream fabric. I'm warned now so if I stuff it up it will be my fault! lol Your block looks great. Have a lovely weekend. hugs
I love the fabric line they chose for this BOM and you did a lovely job on your first block.

I discovered the different coloured sides partway through making my one and only block from the 2011 Mystery BOM. That was also Fig Tree fabric, so I made a point of checking this time around! You've done a great job of block one, and isn't the fabric so sweet!
Block looks lovely, Christine. I like the your little bags. Are they hard to make? Great photos of your boys. Hugs......
Gorgeous block Christine. Oh I do hate it when I do something like you did.. Must say thought I am an expert reverse sewer.. LOL
Well done with your FQ bags..
Nice photos of the boys.. That is the way we always do dishes. don't have a dishwasher. Oh yes I do DH...

Tell me more of the fat quarter bags?
Do your dishwashers do laundry too? Thanks for your company last night too!:)
Nice work Christine, I love Block 1, thanks for the info on the cream fabric. You will end up with close to a fat eighth bundle of extra fabric, the FQS are very generous with their BOM's. Love the pic of the boys drying dishes, doesn't happen very often here either!
Pretty block you stitched up.
Those little bags are just the sweetest and very handy too.
Like your new dishwashers. Too funny.
A very productive night...love your block and pressies for the draw. Love seeing young men working hard. lol.

Thats exactly how my boyslook when they dry the dishes at our house and they are so slow. Love your block Christine, I'm keen to make mine tomorrow.

Gorgeous projects and well done on the miracle of getting teenagers to do dishes :D
The block looks good. Glad the boys still know how to help with the chores.
Looks beautiful - we did old fashioned dish washing in our house too tonight; it got the same response ha ha
Your block looks lovely, great photos of the boys!!
The block is great and I love the colours. Those FQ bags are devine.
That's so funny Christine, I did the exact same thing. I made two blocks and the one that I made of the Friday night has a couple of the cream fabrics around the wrong way.It was so hard to tell when your not working under natural light.
The block looks great Christine ...... And I know all about the old fashioned way of doing the dishes..... It is a regular in this household as the old dishwasher was thrown out and has not been replaced....... Except with a stand for the microwave and a few other bits that fit in the hole. LOL
Wow Christine good thing you picked up the issue with the fabric colour... beautiful sewing there!
And the boys... good on them doing the dishes... mr13 has just figured out that chore is not so bad after all x
