2025 Sri Lankan Adventure - Part 1

Noel and I have just returned from two fabulous
weeks away doing a Luxury Sri Lanka tour.

We went to Negombo, Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya,
Ella, Yala, Koggala, Galle and Colombo
with lots of stops along the way.

What an amazing trip it was. As per usual,
we both took hundreds of photos and
it's taken a week to sort them out!
Our view our first morning when we
woke up in Negombo.
St Mary's Catholic Church.
There were most beautiful paintings on the ceiling
but we weren't allowed to take photos.

Noel having a chat!
Fish drying.

Two days in it was our 30th Anniversary.
When we got on the bus this is what we saw.
Harsha (tour leader), Lakmal (driver) and Niman
(assistant) had decorated the bus for us.

I was presented with this beautiful bunch of flowers.
We went to the restaurant for a late dinner when the
music changed to "The Anniversary song"
and we were presented with this cake.
Our day was made very special and
we will never forget our 30th anniversary.
Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
This is world heritage listed.
We climbed 1100 steps and it was 200 metres from
the bottom to the top. It was quite hard due the heat
(35C plus humidity!) but so worth it.
The view was amazing.

Behind this wall were painted icons
but we weren't allowed to take photos.
On the highest point of the rock.
One of these cheeky monkeys put her hand in my
backpack and tried to pinch something.

Jeep Safari in Minneriya National Park, Sigiriya.

This baby was only 4-6 weeks old.
We went on a second safari at Yala National Park.
The elephant actually rubbed up against our jeep.

We were lucky enough to spot a couple of leopards.
We saw many animals and birds but the
leopards and elephants were a highlight.

How special to celebrate your anniversary that way Christine. The elephant was up close wasn't it! Amazing to see all the animals. That was a huge climb you did, maybe not height but the number of steps and narrow pathways.
