We ate some amazing food and
tried many different things.
Hoppers for breakfast.
Hoppers are a sort of coconut pancake
cooked in a bowl shaped pan.
This is at a restaurant at a house where the owner
employs local women in the village to cook.
There were 38 different dishes to try.
That's not counting the different sweets.
We sat overlooking rice paddies while eating our lunch.
High tea at the Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
It was delicious!
There were lots of fruit and vegetables
we had never seen before.
There was quite a variety of bananas.
We had some of the red bananas which were really nice.
We
went to a Sri Lankan Culinary Demonstration
with Executive Chef, Seenaka
at the Raddison Blu Resort
in Galle and helped with the cooking.
Then we all got to enjoy the meal.
Fish curry, Paripu Wade (dahl curry),
potato white curry,
Brinjal Modu (eggplant), pol sambol and yellow
rice.
It's not every day the Executive Chef
dishes up your meals!
Seenaka kindly shared his recipes with us
