Outback Adventure Part 4

We headed out to Kata Tjuta. This used to be known as The Olgas. It's about 50km from Uluru.
It was quite a hot day when we went. You need to go very early in the morning as it gets just too hot and the rangers close the track at 11.00am. We headed off on the Valley of the Winds Walk and hiked to Karingana Lookout. It took us about two and a half hours.

At the Karingana Lookout. It was quite spectacular. The photos don't really show how great it was.
If you drive along this road you will reach the Western Australia border. Only 190km. Although a bit too far to head for a drive to add another State to our trip.
This is looking back the other way at Kata Tjuta.
Back at Uluru waiting for the sunset. Everyone sits along here and waits. It is really quite civilised and very pleasant. We had drinks and nibbles. I rang my mother to tell her "we are sitting at the side of the road having a wine and nibbles watching a rock"! Where else would you do that!

I'll have to take my hubby there one day, he loves looking at rocks! You should've driven that 190km just to say "We did it!" You've given your boys some wonderful memories.

I have visited WA three times and plan more trips. now i have seen your adventure posts I must broaden my horizons. Love the thought of drinks and nibbles while watching Uluru. We did it watching the sun set over the beach at Freo.

I would be sitting at the side of the road watching the rock as well. Went with my sisters to Okotoks, alberta. They have some huge rocks that were dropped by a glacier, but there are mere pebbles compared to Uluru.
