Don't You Love . . . . . .

. . . spending a lovely time in your sewing room working on
a special project! Just need to add the borders.
Don't you hate it when you realise you don't have
enough of the blue fabric to bind the quilt! I'm probably short about one and a half strips from a fat quarter.
I was wondering if anyone might have a little left over in their stash. It was from a fat quarter bundle I bought at Spotlight a few years ago. If I can't find any more, I'll try doing single binding, something I haven't tried before.

Why don't you cut the strips thinner and add another strip of different fabric to make up the width. When ironed and sewn on to the quilt this odd strip will be hidden on the inside. You won't even know it....

I can identify with your problem and am sorry to say that I do not have that fabric. Perhaps you could use 2 fabrics and make 2 skinny borders, one slightly bigger than the other OR piece the 2 fabrics together in squares or rectangles for the border. Just a thought. Looks lovely so far.

Your stitcheries look great , sorry don't have the blue fabric you require... It's sew annoying when you just don't have enough..

That is such a nuisance Christine! I do hate it when that happens! I would cute the strips narrower and just make single binding.... I have done it before with as little as 1.5" strips and it still looks fine. With a smaller quilt like this one (which is gorgeous btw!) it is not essential to have the extra strength of a double binding! Good luck! Christine x

Looking gorgeous! Perhaps sew blue binding down both sides and use more of the red text print top and bottom?

Oh, I hate when that happens! I don't have any of that blue, but I agree with the others....perhaps cutting the strips narrower will help. I have done single binding with 1.25 strips before. LOL It's a little harder, but on a smaller project you can go slowly and it should be fine.

What a sweet hanging it's going to be Christine - bummer about the binding fabric! - single fold should be fine - I do it for mini quilts, table toppers & such, never have any problems. I'm sure a tutorial online would be helpful - & yes I've used 1.25" strips no probs - Good Luck!
